Joining in with Ginny's yarn along once again.
This week I have just finished reading Anne Tyler's The Amateur Marriage. I quite enjoyed this book, the story was a little different and it was quite an easy read so I finished the book in just a few days.
Also this week I started a new knitting project. I saw a great pattern for a Norwegian snowflake hat on ravelry. It is designed by Tim Doran, who has kindly made the pattern available for free download.
(Yes, I know, I am starting to knit a woolly hat in probably the hottest week of the year so far!)
I am knitting it in Rico Essentials Merino DK which comes in a super range of colours. I am using just two colours. It's ages since I knitted some fairisle so I'm really looking forward to this challenge.
I hope you are having a good week.
xXx
Thats OK - you keep knitting that hat. You will be very thankful on the first cold day we get. Which will be here before ya know it!
ReplyDeleteI like your colour combo. The thing is, if you don't start making wintery things now, autumn/winter will be here & you'll have a million other things on the go & never get around to making the hat you saw months earlier! That's what always seems to happen to me anyway!
ReplyDeleteYour chosen pattern looks wonderful and really lovely yarn colours.

I love the look of that pattern! It's going to look great in those colours too...Mel x
ReplyDeleteI've read a few Anne Tyler novels before (I think the last one was 'Ladder of Years') and have always enjoyed them. I'll try and see if I can find a copy of The Amateur Marriage. It sounds interesting..The Fair Isle hat looks amazing. The colours you've chosen are just perfect!..Have a great weekend! x
ReplyDeleteI love that you are knitting a hat in June....and why not? We should make things when we want regardless of the season! I love the colours you are using.

I just finished a sweater made of wool and it is 92 degrees out, I love the colors for your hat.

Two lovely colours together, I love them. I'm knitting a scarf and it's really warm here. Nothing like being prepared though is there. I hope you enjoy the Fair Isle. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteThe Amateur Marriage is currently in our book group lucky-dip bag, I've not read it yet though, those who have enjoyed it. I loved your photos from Matlock too, a pretty part of the world.
ReplyDeleteI'll look forward to seeing your hat as it takes shape - the colours are gorgeous. I bought a book on fair-isle knitting, but haven't attempted it yet...one day!
